Lee Workman brings over 35 years of experience on a college campus. He last served East Carolina University (ECU) as Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Administration/Acting Chief Operating Officer leading an athletics department of more than 200 staff, 400 student-athletes, and 20 NCAA Division I sport programs.
His wide-ranging experience as an administrator and leader in the collegiate environment comprises accomplishments in many areas including:
organizational leadership and strategic planning
trademark licensing and brand management
ticket sales, attendance, and game atmosphere
event administration, planning, and coordination
apparel and footwear partnerships
human resources, and budget administration and management
He led the ECU trademark licensing area to grow product sales and royalty revenue setting annual records with sustainable brand development and management strategies. The Pirates set attendance and ticket sales records while becoming a football attendance leader for the group of 5 conferences, ranking as high as 40th nationally in NCAA Division I FBS annual average football attendance. In addition to securing ECU’s most lucrative sideline footwear and apparel partnership agreement, he has successfully administered regular season and neutral site games; post-season championships, tournaments, and bowl participation; and Hall of Fame, fundraising, and other special events.
He has served on several Boards of Directors locally and nationally including as a member and officer of the National Football Foundation, Bill Dooley Chapter, National Collegiate Licensing Association (NCLA), and the first President of the International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA).
His dependability, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with campus colleagues and external stakeholders have been displayed throughout his professional career.
